Thomas S. McCormick Memorial Scholarship Fund
This program provides tutoring services to GCMS students who do not have any other extra help.
"Education opens the doors to success."
Facts about the program:
- This program offers qualified tutors, observes confidentiality, and
follows professional policies and procedures.
- Students are referred by their teacher to the guidance counselor.
- Students are tutored two times aweek for forty minutes.
- Substitute tutors are available.
- This program receives no state or federal funding.
- The cost to pay a tutor to provide services to a student for a calendar year is $680. Other expenses include the cost of the director and other operating funds.
- In three years we have expanded from two to seventeen students, five regular tutors, two substitute tutors, and a program director.
- There are seventeen students currently enrolled with a definite need for expansion.
- Additional funding is needed to maintain the quality of our current program and hopefully expand in the future.
Out of seventeen students surveyed, 93% reported having an improvement in their attitude towards school.

100% of parents surveyed reported this program had accomplished it's purpose
and the student's attitude towards school had improved.
