We are striving to become a missional congregation.
The beginning of Faith Garden.
First Presbyterian Church has a proud history of transformative mission in our community. First Presbyterian began the community's Food Bank, and clothing pantry. Our current missions include Faith Garden, planted with vegetables for the food pantry, aided by the generosity of our members, the McCormick Tutoring Program; a system of individual tutors to help prepare Gibson City Students for middle school, high school, college, and beyond, and the support of missionaries from the Gibson City Area.
We also support the mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Our denomination has a proud history of serving others where no one else would venture. Presbyterians were the only Christian denomination who walked the Trail of Tears with the Cherokee Nation. Today Presbyterians serve in places such as South America where they serve as accompaniers; human shields who protect civil rights workers from military and paramilitary death squads.
